Questions people ask

What is the best time to visit Bihar?
January, February, November, December — dry, 8–28 °C, every site and safari open, and the big festivals (Chhath, Sonepur Mela, Bodh Gaya's teaching season) fall in this window. October and March are good shoulder months. Avoid April–June heat unless you are coming for Buddha Purnima.
What is the best time to visit Bodh Gaya?
November to February. December–January is teaching season with monks from across Asia; May's Buddha Purnima is extraordinary but 40 °C. Winter mornings need a jacket.
What is the best time to visit Rajgir and Nalanda?
October to March. The ropeway, Nature Safari glass bridge and hot springs are all pleasant then; Rajgir Mahotsav is in late November. Summer afternoons on the hills are brutal.
When is monsoon in Bihar?
Mid-June to September, wettest in July–August. It is the only season the Kaimur waterfalls (Telhar Kund, Kakolat, Dhua Kund) run properly — but north Bihar's rivers flood and Valmiki Tiger Reserve closes from July to September.
When is Chhath Puja and is it worth travelling for?
Six days after Diwali — late October or November. Yes: sunrise on the final morning at Patna's ghats is the single most moving sight in Bihar. Book trains and rooms a month ahead.
Which months should I avoid?
April to mid-June for heat (38–42 °C with hot loo winds), and July–August if you want to see anything other than waterfalls. Dense fog in late December–January can delay morning trains and flights.
