Planning a December–January trip. How cold does Bihar get and where is coldest?

Bihar winters are cold by Indian plains standards: December–January daytime 18–24 °C, nights 5–10 °C, with Gaya, the Kaimur plateau (Rohtasgarh) and the north Bihar districts near Nepal (West Champaran/Valmikinagar, Kishanganj) usually recording the lowest — frost and 3–4 °C mornings happen. Dense fog across north Bihar in late December–January regularly delays trains and the odd flight, so keep buffer days. It's still the best season to travel: bring a warm jacket for dawn outings (Chhath ghats, Kanwar Lake birds, safari drives) and you'll have comfortable days.
