Have a week in Patna in December with family. Where should we go that's best in winter?

December is the best month in Bihar — clear skies, 10–22 °C. From Patna: (1) Rajgir–Nalanda, 2 nights, 100 km — the skywalk, ropeway to the Peace Pagoda, hot springs and the Nalanda ruins; (2) Bodh Gaya, 2 nights — December–January is teaching season, so the town is at its most alive but book rooms early; (3) a day at Vaishali, 55 km north; (4) Kanwar Lake near Begusarai for the winter geese if you like birds; (5) Valmiki Tiger Reserve if you'll go far — it opens in November and is 6–7 h away. Carry a proper jacket: mornings and evenings are genuinely cold, and fog can delay trains in late December and January.
