Want to combine a safari with north Bihar. Is it a long way from Patna?

It's open November–April and closed through the monsoon (June–October). It is far — 6–7 hours from Patna by road, or train to Valmikinagar Road (5 km) / Narkatiaganj Junction (45 km). Stay at the Forest Department eco-huts or the Bihar Tourism bamboo huts at Valmikinagar, booked ahead. Carry cash; connectivity inside the reserve is close to nil. Break the drive with Kesaria Stupa — it's on the way up.
