Varanasi to Sasaram is close. Can I do Sasaram and Rohtasgarh fort in two days?

Yes, and it's a great weekend. Day 1: train to Sasaram Junction (it's on the Gaya–Mughalsarai line), see Sher Shah's tomb — note the tomb interior closes earlier than the lakeside gardens. Day 2: Rohtasgarh is a full day — hire a car in Sasaram (the last 20 km are steep and rough), start early, carry all food and water because there's nothing on the plateau, and pick up a local guide at Akbarpur. Avoid the monsoon: the road becomes impassable.
