About

A Bihar guide by people who keep going back.

BiharTravel is an independent guide to Bihar, India — 43 destination guides across all 38 districts, curated routes, and a trip planner. It is written and maintained by the BiharTravel editorial team, a small group from Bihar and its diaspora who were tired of the state being summarised as “Bodh Gaya and Nalanda”.

Independent, not an agency
We are not a tour operator and nobody pays to be listed. When you ask for a quote we introduce you to local operators we have vetted; if we ever earn a referral fee we say so on that page.
Fees and timings are checked, and dated
Entry fees, opening hours and transport notes are re-checked against official portals (ASI, Bihar Tourism, IRCTC, the Rajgir Zoo Safari site) and recent traveller reports. Every guide shows when it was last checked — currently November 2026. Prices still change without notice; treat them as planning figures.
Written for people actually going
Each destination page is structured the same way: what to see sight-by-sight, a realistic day, where to stay and eat, how to get there by air, rail and road, distances, and what it pairs with. If a section would be padding, we leave it out.
Photographs are licensed, not lifted
Every image is Creative Commons or public domain and credited on the image and on the credits page. We don't use stock photography.
Your data stays small
Analytics are first-party and cookieless. Email sign-ups are single-purpose, opt-in, and every mail has a one-click unsubscribe. We never sell or share lists.

Corrections

Found a fee that has gone up, a train that no longer runs, or a temple that now closes early? Write to hello@bihartravel.org and we will fix the page and bump its checked date.
